School Show Information

To Book your School Group for a performance, please complete the Booking Form found here. Public, charter, and home schools are welcome to reserve. Mom’s groups and other group sales are required to attend public performances, not school performances.

Please fill out all of the information required, including which performance you’d like to see, and the date and time of the performance that your class would like to attend. Please provide two alternate dates and times, in case your first choice cannot be accommodated.

Indicate the number of seats you’ll be purchasing, including any adults who will be joining the students on their field trip. We strongly suggest a ratio of 1 adult for every 15 children in the group. One Complimentary Admission, for every class of 20 or more students, will be provided for the teacher for specific shows only.

Please e-mail this form to Boxoffice@cityofrc.us or text it to us at 1-909-324-4414. Once processed, an e-mail will be sent with confirmation of the reservation and the dates payments are due. It’s important to review this for accuracy of date, time, and number of people. If you have not received a response within 5 business days of submitting your request, please contact us to ensure that we received it.

If the information is correct, please complete the School Show Agreement and e-mail it back to us.

No tickets are printed for school performances. Your final confirmation is proof of your ticket purchase. For the safety of the students, all seats must be booked through the school. Individual tickets will not be sold to parents.

Curriculum guides will be available for some performances on our web site at www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com approximately 3 weeks prior to the opening of each production.

We understand that sometimes payment timeframes don’t work out. Please give us a call if you run into any issues. We can be flexible if we’re informed.

Access for disabled students:

There are several designated wheelchair locations inside the theatre, and easy access into the lobby area. Please let us know ahead of time if any of your students will be arriving in wheelchairs, so that we can reserve those seats with the rest of your group.

A 50% deposit is required within 30 days of booking the reservation. Orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so it’s best to reserve early! Once we receive your reservation/booking form, we’ll send you an agreement. Please complete and return the agreement within 10 days in order to hold the seats until the deposit payment is received.

We happily accept Purchase Orders.

Check payments should be made out to: City of Rancho Cucamonga, and mailed to the following address: ATTN: Jodi -12505 Cultural Center Dr. Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739.

We realize that in many cases you won’t be able to finalize the actual seat count until closer to the date of the performance. You are welcome to change the order, but the final number of seats and the balance due must be paid in full three weeks prior to the performance. Any reduction in numbers may not go below the original 50% deposit amount as no refunds will be given (different rules apply to complete cancellations depending on date).

Please be sure your numbers are correct and transportation is secured before the final payment is received. Once we receive the final payment, we will send you a final Receipt that shows Paid in Full, which you should bring with you to the theatre.

Please note that once we receive the final payment, there can be no refunds.

Failure to make payments on time may result in a cancellation of the group order. Please contact us if you have any issues with payment.

If you need to cancel your booking after we receive your deposit but before the final payment is due, you may do so, but you will forfeit all or part of your deposit. A percentage of your deposit will be refunded, depending on how many weeks prior to the show the cancellation is received. Please call us for more details if you find yourself in that situation.

3 weeks prior to the performance: Group deposit (50% of the total balance) will be forfeited in its entirety.

6 weeks prior to the performance: Group will receive 50% of their deposit (or 25% of the total payment).

8 weeks prior to the performance: Group will receive a full refund, minus a $50 processing fee

A Lewis Family Playhouse Usher will meet your school bus in the special Bus Drop-Off Area for the Playhouse. The Usher will verify the number of seats indicated on your Receipt with the number of people on the bus. The Usher will then lead you and your students to your designated seats. Please note that no one will be allowed into the theatre without a reserved seat.

Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before the performance time, so all School Group classes can be seated and the performance can start on time.

Talkbacks/ Question and Answer sessions with the cast or creative team may be available at the final showing of the day. If when arriving you are not able to stay for these, please let the ushers know.

The bus drop off area is located on the West side of the Victoria Gardens regional town center, just north of the West Parking structure, at the intersection of Monet and Cultural Center Drive. Playhouse ushers will escort students through the walkway alongside the exterior of the building and through the courtyard in order to enter the theatre Lobby.

The Victoria Gardens Cultural Center is centrally located West of the 15 Freeway (between the 10 and 210 freeways), using the Foothill Blvd. exit.

From North: 15 Freeway South to Foothill Blvd, exit going West to Day Creek Blvd., go North to Cultural Center Drive, turn East to facility.

From South: 15 Freeway North to Foothill Blvd, exit going West to Day Creek Blvd., go North to Cultural Center Drive, turn East to facility.

From East: 10 Freeway West to 15 Freeway North to Foothill Blvd, exit going West to Day Creek Blvd., go North to Cultural Center Drive, turn East to facility.

From West: 10 Freeway East to 15 Freeway North to Foothill Blvd, exit going West to Day Creek Blvd., go North to Cultural Center Drive, turn East to facility.

We ask that you share these simple “rules” with your students before arriving for the performance. These rules will ensure that everyone has a positive experience at the Playhouse. They will also be included in the teacher curriculum guides.

· Everyone must sit in his or her own seat, with their feet on the floor.

· There is no photography of any kind allowed in the theatre. Please turn off all phones, beepers, video games and alarms. The sounds can disrupt your neighbors and the performers on stage.

· Please don’t bring any food or drinks into the theatre, even candy or gum.

· The wonderful thing about theatre is that the actors are live and are performing the play just for the audience. The actors can be distracted by hearing members of the audience talking, so please do not talk during the performance.

· Even though talking during the performance is discouraged, students should be encouraged to have fun! They should know it’s ok to laugh if they see something funny, or even cry if they see something sad.

At the end of the show, encourage students to show their appreciation to the actors by applauding. The actors love hearing responses to their performance.
